Tonight a group of us took advantage of the ticket deal and went to the Purdue game that was not originally on the schedule at the beginning of the year. The opponent was Western Michigan, and with the holiday tomorrow many people did not come out to the game. They missed out. Last year during the Michigan State game I snapped a picture just as Lewis Jackson was attempting a slam. He did not get it down, but it left everyone wondering what if. Just this week I saw some talk about whether or not LewJack could still slam. On a break in the second half he showed everyone just what he could do. He soared high enough to put down a nasty dunk. I really wish that the students were in the arena and the stands were packed. Maybe I should be happy that the stadium was only half full. I might not be able to hear right now had the place been packed. It was the highlight of the night for sure, and maybe of the non conference schedule. Instead of rambling anymore I will just post some pictures from tonight’s game.
I normally would not post this many pictures from a basketball game, but I found a few I liked for one reason or another. I shot with my new lens, and I love how most of the pictures turned out. I will have to try it again next week when Western Michigan comes to town. Here are the pictures I liked from last nights game.
I was lucky enough to be at the United Center today for the Boilers practice. Last year I saw them play three games in two rounds of the NCAA Tournament, but different things prevented me from seeing them practice. Since they were so close this time I thought that I would see what it was all about. I got to the United Center early so that I could watch some of the other teams as well. When Purdue was not on the floor the most exciting thing was watching the tourney games on the TV’s located on press row. Luckily they had a few games going at once so it was like I was at the coolest sports bar in the world. Continue reading
This is a little bigger than most of the galleries. I had a few pictures that I liked and decided to share most of them. At some point I may post a few more that didn’t make it in here.
A couple of days ago Purdue played a meaningless game. Meaningless that is unless you want to see a Boiler team win. They did pull out the win though in the exhibition opener. I normally will not post pictures after each basketball game, but with all the new faces I thought that I would post a few. Here are the pictures from the game versus Indianapolis.
On a day where the mid-term elections took center stage my focus was of course on the Boiler basketball team. They started their exhibition season by playing Indianapolis at the partially completed Mackey Arena. I only say it that way because the Northwestern entrance gate was open yesterday. It was nice to walk into the stadium without walking under the unfinished girders as we had to last season. I can’t wait until they have the renovation completed. Continue reading
