The bats were not going again yesterday for Purdue. A tough series to open the new stadium, but the team is young.

Sports Photo of the Day

Here is another of the very popular sports photos that I post on this little blog. I say that tongue in cheek because the sports photos really don’t get any love here. I love to shoot sports though so I will post some of the photos that I really like on here. I took this photo yesterday during a doubleheader at Purdue. I was concentrating more on getting some action shots yesterday as opposed to the overall experience as with Opening Day the day before. I think that it showed up a bit in my images. I put my images up on my Facebook page here if you want to see some of what I did yesterday. Baseball is a weird animal to photograph. In a way it is very much a repeated cycle. Alexander Field Opening Day Photo Gallery

Today was a pretty good day for baseball considering the weather that we have been having lately. I always had a fondness for Lambert Field for some reason, but Alexander Field is truly a first class stadium. The Boilers really have a great place to play. I had fun finding all of the new locations to shoot from in the stadium. It even took me a minute or two to realize how to get into the camera wells. At the end of the day though the stadium can only be good for Purdue baseball. Here are some of the pictures that I liked from the game today.

Purdue Fall Series Photo Gallery

I finally was able to see the new ballpark for the Purdue baseball team last Sunday. They have given the public chances to see it, but something has always come up. Sunday I was able to see the park as well as some game action. Here are a few shots from the day that I liked.

History!!!

Today the Purdue Baseball team did something that it had not done in 103 years. It won the Big Ten Baseball title. Actually it clinched at least a tie, but with four games left it seems like this team has the outright title in the bag. I was at the game today and snapped a few pictures. I will have a little more on the game, and a link to more pictures later. For now let’s just enjoy the spoils of victory. Boiler Up!

A picture and some thoughts on today’s win against Illinois. A link to the rest of my pictures can be found at the end of the post.

Today I went to the Purdue baseball game after work. The team has been playing very well lately so I really wanted to catch some of the game today. It may be the only opportunity that I have all weekend to see them play. I shot from the side of the Boilers dugout most of the game, but I moved behind the plate late to shoot through the protective screen. Lately I have gotten better at this process to the point where I don’t think you can tell at all with this shot. You can really get some good images this way, and I had a blast back there. I have a couple of more ideas to try if I can get back to a game this week.

Today’s picture is of Boilers pitcher Joe Haase. Joe pitched a very good game today, and I thought that since I liked…

Perkins Leads Sweep of Hoosiers

Since I was in town I decided to attend the finale of the Boilers series against Indiana. I was not disappointed as they won in a rout 14-5. This was the first series sweep for the Boilers of the Hoosiers since 1997. It is pretty nice to be on the right side of history like that. It was also the 30th win of the season for Purdue. More importantly it kept the Boilers in a tie for first place in the Big Ten with Michigan State. Both teams will square off next weekend in East Lansing in what should be a great showdown. Even with the high price of gas I may have to try and get to at least one of those games.

Today was another game in which the wind played a factor, but in a different way. Instead of blowing in, it was blowing out to left field. If you could get the ball in the air it had a shot at going out. Once again the strong wind made for some interesting plays in the field. The players were battling the sun and the wind, and it was not always pretty how it turned out.
