Purdue vs. #15 Ohio State Photo Gallery

Purdue got off to a terrible start last night, and struggled to close the gap all night. The crowd was ready to erupt several times, but something always stopped the Boilers run. I did not take too many pictures last night, but here are some of my favorites. By the way the t-shirt idea by the athletic department was a great one, and it looked great. That is why two pictures from the opening moments show up right away.

I thought this big reversal of a call towards Purdue could have been big, but things just did not work out

Terone Johnson goes up for the layup. A strobe went off at this time blowing out my shot. I thought that I would try and bring back some details in it.

Here are some of my favorite shots from tonights game in Mackey Arena. This was a great game to be at, and I hope that I captured at least some of that here.

Women’s NCAA Tournament Picks and Bracket

The top half of my bracket

I don’t have much time so I can’t get into this too much. I will say that I didn’t see too many upsets here. The one big upset that I picked was Ohio State over Tennessee. The Volunteers are not the power they once were, and Ohio State is playing like the team we thought they would be at the start of the season. That should be a great game. I then have Notre Dame taking out Ohio State to move to the Final Four. Continue reading

The Official csd Bracket

This has probably been one of the toughest years that I have had in filling out a bracket. Every time that you think that you have had a team figured out this season they go and show you another side. I think that Ohio State might be the toughest team in the bracket, but I saw them get beat in person. The first time I filled the bracket out I came up with way too much chalk. I then tried to find a few upsets, and ended up with a bracket that if true would have been a crazy tournament. I think that I have settled on something that is fairly realistic with a few upsets. Of course with the bracket I have always done better when I just trusted my gut. The first chalk bracket was probably the best one I came up with. This morning President Obama released his bracket so I thought I should release mine. Millions of people will see his bracket, and tens of people might see this one. Pretty similar. In fact I would bet that more people were in the room during the taping of his bracket segment then will read this. Continue reading

2011 Men’s Big Ten Tournament Preview

I think these two will meet again in the finals

Why do I try and predict anything? If you saw my women’s tourney preview it looked good on paper. Then they played the games, and my bracket was busted early. Of course that never stops me from trying to predict anything. If anything I find it funny how often I am wrong. I did do fairly well during the regular season this year picking the mens games so maybe this won’t be so bad. I will go through what I think will happen day by day in the tourney. Picking the games this way could lead to bad things in a hurry. Here goes nothing. Continue reading

College Basketball Game of the Week (Hawkeye Down Edition)

Carver-Hawkeye from the top of the stands

Well my promise of insight into each game has gone an entire season of being unfulfilled. Early in the season I blamed it on writing too much about football. Now that we have had nothing but basketball going on I really haven’t stepped up. I guess you can blame that on my limited basketball knowledge. I played (if you could call it that) football so I at least understand most of the game. I am still new to organized basketball so I seem to learn something new all the time. Continue reading
