Purdue vs. Western Carolina Photo Gallery

I really was not going to go to the game tonight, but about twenty minutes before the tip I found out that I had a shot at sitting in the nice new black seats for free. Why not? I hurried down to Mackey to see the game. The game was not at all what I expected with Western leading for much of it. Luckily the Boilers found their stride and came away with the W. After a win against Western you know what you have to face next. That’s right Eastern comes in Saturday. I should have seats nearly as good, but on the other side of the arena then. I will get spoiled if this keeps up much longer. Here are a few pictures that I liked from the game.

A Sick Feeling

JaJuan Johnson leaves the court for the last time as a Boilermaker

As I was sitting stunned in my seat at the United Center tonight I was thinking about how things had come full circle. This season ended for me exactly how it started. I remember sitting in Ross-Ade Stadium when a friend sent me a text about Robbie Hummel tearing his ACL again. Once I confirmed it wasn’t a sick joke I had a feeling in my stomach like I had been punched in the gut. Late in this game I had the same feeling once you knew it was over. They showed Rob on the jumbotron crying, and I had that same sick feeling in my gut. Combine this with the terrible way the seniors went out in football, and things get even worse. We have seen some of the best to come through Purdue this past fall with Kerrigan, and now with JJ and Smooge. None of them went out the way they would have liked. Continue reading

Solid Play Beats Trash Talk

JJ wondering which move of his moves to use

I have had a couple great moments in the United Center. One of them is any time you hear the National Anthem during a Blackhawks game. Hearing it during a crazy standing room only crowd before a Red Wings game is awesome. Another great moment was watching Jordan drop 55 on the Bullets in 1997. It was game two of the playoffs, and the Bulls were not playing well. Michael just put them on his back to lead them to the victory. That was my first Bulls game so I picked a great one to attend. The best moment in the Madhouse though was watching the Sox clinch the World Series on the jumbotron. I wanted to experience the game as though I was there, and the party that ensued was great. Today was just another addition to that set of memories. Continue reading

Purdue Boilermakers NCAA Practice Gallery

I was lucky enough to be at the United Center today for the Boilers practice. Last year I saw them play three games in two rounds of the NCAA Tournament, but different things prevented me from seeing them practice. Since they were so close this time I thought that I would see what it was all about. I got to the United Center early so that I could watch some of the other teams as well. When Purdue was not on the floor the most exciting thing was watching the tourney games on the TV’s located on press row. Luckily they had a few games going at once so it was like I was at the coolest sports bar in the world. Continue reading

College Basketball Game of the Week (Week 9 Edition)

Steve Lavin sharing his popcorn with the Paint Crew last season

This week is a tough one. I am going to Notre Dame tonight to see the St. John’s team coached by former Purdue coach and ESPNĀ  analyst Steve Lavin. Tomorrow the Boilers play Iowa. Anyone who knows me knows that I spent a couple of years in Iowa after graduating. For some reason my hate for the Hawkeyes went up exponentially after my time there. I may be the one responsible for them becoming our new football rival according to the Big Ten. This should not be much of a game Sunday. The Boilers should mop the floor with Iowa. That being said it still is a Big Ten game so if the Boilers are thinking like I am things could be interesting. Continue reading

csd Flashback: 1/1/10 in Pictures

I figured that I would post this for two reasons. One is that the site was on hiatus when I attended this game a year ago. I have stopped posting for short periods twice for the same reason. That is the fact that it is hard to spend time on something that nobody is reading. For some reason I just didn’t feel the small amount of hits I was getting was worth the time. I really enjoy it though so I always pick it back up. Currently I am amazed at how many people have been coming to the blog. I still can’t believe that people care about anything I have to say. The second purpose of the post is to say thank you to all of those who come to the site. It is very much appreciated. Continue reading
