Today was another good win over a MAC school. It was too close for comfort for a while, but the Boilers pulled ahead when they needed to. For some reason they really seem to be playing to their competition again. Like Wednesday night we had great seats again, but this time directly across the court. Once again I was caught up in the action, and did not take as many pictures as I usually do. I did get to sit near Wendell Wolka for the first time. He is very loyal Purdue fan that is even utilized in the current ad campaigns. You can easily spot him with his pharaoh hat that he wears to each game. He was fun to listen to as the Boilers shot their free throws. As the non-conference schedule wears down I start to think towards the Big Ten season. The games now are fun, but Mackey should be rocking in just under a month. Here are some pictures that I enjoyed from the game tonight.

I really was not going to go to the game tonight, but about twenty minutes before the tip I found out that I had a shot at sitting in the nice new black seats for free. Why not? I hurried down to Mackey to see the game. The game was not at all what I expected with Western leading for much of it. Luckily the Boilers found their stride and came away with the W. After a win against Western you know what you have to face next. That’s right Eastern comes in Saturday. I should have seats nearly as good, but on the other side of the arena then. I will get spoiled if this keeps up much longer. Here are a few pictures that I liked from the game.
Farewell Mr. Buehrle
This blog is usually about events that I have attended live. Every now and then though something happens that I feel the need to write about. Today one of those events happened. Today Mark Buehrle signed with the Miami Marlins to join his former manager on the team. I really enjoyed watching Mark pitch during his time with the Sox. The picture above tells you all you need to know about the guy. Here is was Opening Day, and he was walking around with his glove on his head before pitching. He was always loose and fun to watch. Maybe they will let him slide around on the tarp in Miami.
Back To Detroit?
Ever since Purdue won in Bloomington to claim the bucket again I have heard many different bowl scenarios for the Boilers. For very selfish reasons I was rooting to see them in Detroit. With starting a new job it would have been very hard to get anywhere else. For the most part though Purdue was not even mentioned with that bowl in the last week. From everything that I have read it looked like the team was going to be in Dallas. Reading as much about Kennedy that I have it would have killed me not to go to that one, and make a couple day trip out of it. Instead though another trip to Detroit appears to be in order. I do live almost two hours further away now, but I think that I may have to make this game. This is the first year since 2004 that I have not seen Purdue play on the road. Thankfully a short drive into Michigan is all that stands in front of me from keeping that streak going. Continue reading

Today the Purdue women faced off against the defending National Champions who came into the game ranked 4th. Purdue was coming off a tough loss at Duke, and needed a win badly. The pulled off the win delighting the crowd at the renovated Mackey Arena. The Boilers faced a very tough Aggie team today. They were very physical, and I thought that it would eventually do the Boilers in. When the lead got to nine I remember thinking just don’t let it get too bad. Memories of the 40+ point loss last season in College Station are still very fresh. Not only did they keep it close the turned things around by eighteen points to win by nine. It was good to see such a big win in person. I haven’t been to as many games as I would have liked, but I wouldn’t have missed this one. Here are some pictures that I liked from the game today.

A late night followed by a long day yesterday delayed these pictures from making the blog. They might not have appeared at all, but I did enjoy the special silver jerseys that the team wore. Robbie Hummel played his 100th game for the Boilers so I tried to get a couple shots of him in here. I might have went a little heavy on the pictures this time, but yet again the jerseys were cool enough to get some extra shots of. Here are some of the pictures that I liked:
