Wildcats Crump(le) Under Boiler Pressure

Today Terrance Crump played his last game at Mackey Arena hence the cheesy title. The day I picked up my first season tickets I heard about Crump getting in trouble with the law. From day one I did not care for him as a player. He has grown on me since he started playing last year. He hit a big shot against Virginia last year in the ACC/Big Ten shootout on ESPN to start things off. He has provided some good minutes off of the bench this year. The team has so many guards that he has been the odd man out.
On to today’s game. Purdue had a lot of trouble with Northwestern just like we did a couple of weeks ago in Evanston. Today though we took control of the game much earlier than the last one. Robbie Hummel only played 17 minutes because of fouls, but scored 15 points in that time. He just seemed to get nabbed today for a couple of tick tack fouls that put him on the bench. Who could possibly step up to take his place? How about another former Valpo Viking Scott Martin? Yes Martin stepped up in the second half and put the Boilers on his back during the stretch that we put the Wildcats away. For the game he had 10 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 blocks. He started things off by getting a rebound off of a Johnson missed field goal and put it in. Then he went on a hustling spree that had the crowd on its feet. He may be peaking at just the right time for the team. Kramer had six steals today, and is just a hustling fool on the court. I have another picture of him getting fouled and still managing to get the shot off with his body contorted. He gives everything that he has while he is on the court. This team is full of kids that you want to pull for. We can pull for them Tuesday at Ohio State, and then on Sunday at Michigan. Two games left to try and claim the Big Ten Title.
This was my last men’s game of the year in Mackey Arena. I have tickets to the 1st and 2nd rounds of the women’s NCAA tourney in Mackey at the end of the month. The women are on the bubble so this may have been the last Purdue game in Mackey this year.
