Purdue 81 – #16/#24 Indiana 68
The game was played a day later than scheduled, but it was well worth the wait. David Teague and Carl Landry put Purdue on their backs tonight to get the victory. Purdue only scored 34 points in the first half, and 33 of them were scored by the trio of Landry, Teague, and Crump. The only other point was a free throw made by Chris Kramer. In the end the duo of Landry and Teague scored 54 points. Teague had another career best points total of 32. It seems that he is besting his previous total every game now. D.J. White looked like a monster for Indiana. He scored 20 points, and made some tough shots. He was well defended over and over, and still got the ball in the hole. The win tonight assures Purdue of a winning season. After the last two years that feels good, but what would be even better would be a 20+ win season and a NCAA berth. With two games against Northwestern, and one against Minnesota left it is not out of the question. The Boilers next game is at Iowa which is a tough place to play. Any place but Mackey has been tough for the Boilers this year though.
It was a good day all around for Indiana sports in my eyes. Purdue beats Indiana, the Purdue women beat Michigan, the Irish men come back to beat Providence, and Tony Stewart and Jeff Gordon win their respective Twin 125 races. Tony Raines also finished 10th in the second Gatorade Duel race.
