Tonight at Mackey Arena the Illini flirted with an upset for the majority of the game. The Boilers looked like a much better team, and should have run away with the game. They could not get away from Illinois though. Both teams shot poorly in the first half, and that trend continued for Purdue in the second half. The teams shot a combined 18-56 in the first half. Shots seemed to be in the cylinder, then would pop back out. Lyndsay Wisdom-Hylton had 19 points and three blocks on the night. She was a force early on, and the only reason Purdue was in the game early. Katie Gearlds took over tonight to save the Boilers. She scored 24 points, and pulled down a career best 12 rebounds. She seemed to be everywhere, and may have saved her team from an upset tonight. FahKara Malone added 14 points and 8 steals for the Boilermakers. The Boilers will have to play better than this Sunday when #24 Michigan State comes to town.
