On a cold day outside the Irish squeaked out a win against the Mountaineers of West Virginia. The gametime temp was about 4 degrees outside, and with the wind it seemed even colder. Both teams started off the game as cold as the weather outside. The first field goal was not scored until 3:30 had passed in the game. The first 10 minutes of the game seemed like a battle of turnovers and missed shots. Notre Dame started making theirs, and cruised to a 20 point lead that they held for most of the game. West Virginia shot around 20 percent for about the first three quarters of the game, but got hot late to make it close. The lead was down to as much as five at one point, but Notre Dame held on for the win. Charel Allen scored 26 to lead the Irish once again. Her play combined with another solid effort by the three freshmen helped Notre Dame triumph once again. It should be fun to watch these players progress as time goes on. The next home game for the Irish is Wednesday, but I will be in West Lafayette to see the Purdue men play Michigan State.
