Notre Dame 83 – Syracuse 55

For the second straight game the Irish win easily. On Tuesday against Syracuse they had a tough time at the begining of the game, and went down by five. Today they had a tough time scoring as well, but so did the Orange. The Irish took control of the game fairly early though, and never looked back. Part of the surge was once again Charel Allen. After her 31 point performance on Tuesday she follows it up with a 25 point game today. She is really the catalyst for this team. She hit some very tough shots when the Irish needed them. After the halftime break the Orange went on a run that cut the Irish lead to 11. Allen took the team on her shoulders, and helped the Irish start a run of their own. After struggling offensively Melissa Lechlitner scored a career high 18 points today for Notre Dame. She has been solid all year long defensively, but her shooting isn’t always there. She keeps the shots coming though as all good shooters do. She hit some from long range today, as well as taking the ball inside against a big Syracuse team.
On a side note Keri Laimbeer, the daughter of former Pistons star Bill Laimbeer, is a sophmore forward for the Orange. She only had limited playing time, but if she is anything like her father, she will be a force to be reckoned with. I was trying to see if Bill was in the crowd, but did not see him. Bill was a star at Notre Dame before graduating to the NBA.
