Purdue vs. Iowa Photo Gallery

I know that it is Indiana week, but I thought that I would take one last look back at the disappointing game yesterday. It seems as if our bowl chances took a huge hit with the loss. Here are some of the pictures that I liked from yesterday’s game.

Not Quite Yet

The play that could have sealed the deal for Marve's legend status at Purdue

All week long I really thought that Purdue was going to get the sixth win that would make them bowl eligible today. I really thought that the team looked good last week, and would not cause anymore of the heartache that they did earlier this season. During the Penn State game I tweeted that this team loves to rip my heart out. They did it again today. Just when you thought that they were going to get things going to get the win something happened to snuff that out. Today was just hard to watch. Before the game started as a little rain fell on our tailgate I made the comment about last year’s Michigan game. The rain did not come down like that game, but the game turned out the same. Constantly in reach the victory could not be pulled out. As a resident in Iowa for two years this really hurts. I always had to hear how Iowa owned Purdue. The Big Ten making this our rival in my eyes just solidified what I already felt. The seniors deserved better than this today. Continue reading

Purdue vs. Ohio State Photo Gallery

This one might be a bit heavy, but it was a great game to watch so I put a few extra pictures in. Of course many of them are from down on the field which I don’t normally get to do. Even the next day I am still excited about the way that it ended. I hope that a great game like this translates into a nice crowd next week. Here are some of the pictures that I liked from this weeks game:

Marve Helps Keep the Celebration Weekend Going

Robert Marve celebrating with the fans after the win

With all of the focus on basketball this weekend the football game against Ohio State was kind of lost in the shuffle for me. This morning I was even thinking of just watching it on TV. Of course that thought lasted just a few minutes before I pulled on my Purdue gear and headed out the door. I only got to my doorway before remembering one crucial part. I went back in and put the shirt that was given out prior to the 2009 game on. Jokingly in my head I said that it could be on the field twice. Never in my wildest dreams did I think that it could actually happen. Continue reading

Purdue 21 – #23 Illinois 14

The team celebrates with the fans after the game

Normally I like to come up with some sort of a witty title for my game posts. After the way this season has gone so far I thought that the score would do. This team has looked good some days, and then had days like last Saturday that make them hard to watch. I love the effort they put forth in Happy Valley, but they just couldn’t get over the hump. You want them to do it so bad that you feel awful when they don’t get it done. From almost the start today though they got it done. This game went a long way to help put away the awful memory that was my road trip to Illinois last year. In that game the Illini had their way with us. We had them over the barrel for a half, and if we had not gone into a shell in the second half I am sure that we could have made it look worse. Continue reading

My nice seats right behind the Purdue bench made me a little trigger happy with my camera. Here are a few pictures that I liked from the game for one reason or another.

Purdue vs. Notre Dame Photo Gallery

It has been a while since I posted a gallery separate from a post. I had such a cool seat at the end of the game though that I decided to post a few more pictures that did not make the cut of the post. I would normally have cut this post in half, but I decided to have just one long post.

Despite a course full of cars some golfers decided to tee it up anyway

Doing Just What You Are Supposed To Do

Peters Drey lifts up Robert Marve after a Marve touchdown pass

Yesterday Purdue played an inferior opponent, and should have won big. They came out and did just that. They absolutely pummeled Southeast Missouri State 59-0 to earn their second win of the season. The offense looked great yesterday, and the defense was good enough to get the first shutout since 2004. This was a well played game, but I don’t think the score is indicative of how good Purdue is. I actually think that Purdue will still have a tough road ahead of them this season. I do feel better about the team though as they did exactly what they were supposed to do yesterday. Boilers Use Late Surge to Claim Victory Over Middle Tennessee State

Ricardo Allen jumps into Logan Link's arms after his game ending block

All day yesterday I was singing the Purdue fight song. This morning I woke up and immediately started blasting it on my stereo. On the way to the game 93.5 here in Lafayette really seemed to know what to play to get me amped up. Everything was in place for a perfect game. That is everything but the weather. Once again I was very lucky and was given a ticket in the Shively Club to see the game. I was warm walking to the stadium, but the heat did not really hit me until I left the air conditioning of the club to take my seat. After the initial searing I would not take too long to cook. If the weather got to me just sitting watching the game you have to wonder how it affected the players. I know that they are in great shape, but that sun was hot today. The Boilermakers did a great job of not giving up and playing out the game. The heat really was oppressive today. You have to wonder what effect it had on the players. Purdue really did not seemed too focused early. Penalties and turnovers reared their ugly head again. How many third and ridiculously long situations were they in today? Continue reading

Game Notes: Purdue vs. Michigan

The player that must have haunted Rich Rodriguez for two years

So this is it. The Boilers have three games left with two wins needed to become bowl eligible. They go to Michigan State next weekend so I think that they will have to take care of Michigan this week along with beating the Hoosiers to get their two wins. There is also the chance that they finish out 0-3. I think that the events of this weekend will go a long way in determining how the rest of the season goes.  Continue reading
