Purdue vs. Indiana Photo Gallery Part 2

Although the second half did not turn out as I would have hoped here are the pictures from the final two plus quarters of Saturday’s game.

A Ben Chappell fumble lays on the ground. Albert Evans recovered the ball, but the play was overturned

Game Notes: Purdue vs. Michigan

The player that must have haunted Rich Rodriguez for two years

So this is it. The Boilers have three games left with two wins needed to become bowl eligible. They go to Michigan State next weekend so I think that they will have to take care of Michigan this week along with beating the Hoosiers to get their two wins. There is also the chance that they finish out 0-3. I think that the events of this weekend will go a long way in determining how the rest of the season goes.  Continue reading

Purdue @ Illinois in Pictures

Although the game was not what I had hoped for I did get a couple decent pictures at Memorial Stadium. I did not take many as they frown upon using my camera in the stadium. Late in the game though I did not care if I was booted so I started firing away. Here are a few that I liked the best.

The Glass is Mostly Empty

The Illini students have a virtual beer chug

I am normally one of the more optimistic fans that you will see. I always think that my team is better than they actually are, and can keep winning. You have to do something really bad for me to be down on my team. That is how I feel right now less than a day after Purdue was beaten soundly 44-10 in Illinois. Purdue had a lot of trouble moving the football. The people around me said that it was because they were going into the wind. I really don’t buy that because Illinois seemed to move the ball very well when they went into the wind. We just faced a team that was much better than us on the day. I would not have made the road trip if I thought that Purdue was going to get blown out. I really thought that we could compete with them, and at least have a chance. I am now 5-11 when going on the road to see Purdue play. I did come to the conclusion that I would not travel to see the Boilers play on Halloween weekend again. I was in Wisconsin last year on Halloween to see the Boilers shut out 37-0. This one seemed a lot like that at times. Of course that Boiler team rebounded the next week to beat Michigan in the Big House. This week Purdue has Wisconsin coming into West Lafayette. A rebound win may be tough. During halftime the Illinois student section did a human jumbotron thing. Part of that was a beer mug race. I thought the picture of the empty glasses was a perfect one to lead off the post.  Continue reading

Game Notes: Purdue @ Illinois

Chief Illiniwek during his last football performance in 2006

This will be the second time that I have traveled to Champaign to see the Boilers play the Illini. The first was in 2006 when Joe Tiller’s group took advantage of turnovers to become bowl eligible. While reading the Illinois preview on Hammer and Rails I saw that Boiler T-Mill who does most of the writing had a 7-11 record following Purdue on the road. That got me thinking about my record following Purdue. I have seen Purdue on the road fifteen times so far. Of those fifteen times the Boilers have dropped ten of them. The worst loss by far had to be last season at Wisconsin when they went down 37-0. I am really glad that I sold my Ohio State tickets for last weekend because that would have been horrible to have seen in person. Here is a quick breakdown of my Purdue road trips by team: Continue reading
