Purdue vs. Nebraska Photo Gallery Part Two

Here are the pictures from the second half and the three overtimes from Thursdays game. I was even getting tired of taking pictures near the end so there are not too many late. I wish that the game had ended differently, but of course it didn’t. Both teams showed tremendous determination during the game, and somebody had to lose the game. Below are some of the pictures that I liked from the end of the game.

Purdue vs. Nebraska Photo Gallery Part One

Since the game was so long yesterday I decided to split the photo gallery up into two sections. This first one will cover the first half of the game.

A Historic Game

If only this shot had gone in at the buzzer in regulation

Tonight I went to my second sporting event of the year. This site is called Confessions of a Sports Junkie, not Confessions of a Guy Who Occasionally attends games. For some reason though things have not worked out to allow me to attend games. I really wanted to see the top 25 matchup between the Purdue Boilermakers and the Nebraska Cornhuskers. This game was very big because first place in the Big Ten was on the line. A win by the Boilers and they stay a game ahead of Ohio State, and a loss puts them in a tie with Nebraska for the lead with Ohio State just a 1/2 game out.  Continue reading

Purdue vs. Western Carolina Photo Gallery

I really was not going to go to the game tonight, but about twenty minutes before the tip I found out that I had a shot at sitting in the nice new black seats for free. Why not? I hurried down to Mackey to see the game. The game was not at all what I expected with Western leading for much of it. Luckily the Boilers found their stride and came away with the W. After a win against Western you know what you have to face next. That’s right Eastern comes in Saturday. I should have seats nearly as good, but on the other side of the arena then. I will get spoiled if this keeps up much longer. Here are a few pictures that I liked from the game.

Purdue vs. Texas A&M Photo Gallery

Today the Purdue women faced off against the defending National Champions who came into the game ranked 4th. Purdue was coming off a tough loss at Duke, and needed a win badly. The pulled off the win delighting the crowd at the renovated Mackey Arena. The Boilers faced a very tough Aggie team today. They were very physical, and I thought that it would eventually do the Boilers in. When the lead got to nine I remember thinking just don’t let it get too bad. Memories of the 40+ point loss last season in College Station are still very fresh. Not only did they keep it close the turned things around by eighteen points to win by nine. It was good to see such a big win in person. I haven’t been to as many games as I would have liked, but I wouldn’t have missed this one. Here are some pictures that I liked from the game today.

Purdue vs. Ohio State Photo Gallery

This one might be a bit heavy, but it was a great game to watch so I put a few extra pictures in. Of course many of them are from down on the field which I don’t normally get to do. Even the next day I am still excited about the way that it ended. I hope that a great game like this translates into a nice crowd next week. Here are some of the pictures that I liked from this weeks game:

As I said in the previous post I shot entirely in manual mode again today. It may have cost me a couple pictures, but overall I think the end result was better. The great weather combined with a great result made for a good day shooting. Here are a few pictures that I liked from my day.

Boilers Use Late Surge to Claim Victory Over Middle Tennessee State

Ricardo Allen jumps into Logan Link's arms after his game ending block

All day yesterday I was singing the Purdue fight song. This morning I woke up and immediately started blasting it on my stereo. On the way to the game 93.5 here in Lafayette really seemed to know what to play to get me amped up. Everything was in place for a perfect game. That is everything but the weather. Once again I was very lucky and was given a ticket in the Shively Club to see the game. I was warm walking to the stadium, but the heat did not really hit me until I left the air conditioning of the club to take my seat. After the initial searing I would not take too long to cook. If the weather got to me just sitting watching the game you have to wonder how it affected the players. I know that they are in great shape, but that sun was hot today. The Boilermakers did a great job of not giving up and playing out the game. The heat really was oppressive today. You have to wonder what effect it had on the players. Purdue really did not seemed too focused early. Penalties and turnovers reared their ugly head again. How many third and ridiculously long situations were they in today? Continue reading

Purdue vs. Middle Tennessee State: A Non Preview Preview

Ricardo Allen getting escorted by Purdue Pete as he crosses the goal line after his 94 yard interception return last season

For the last several years I have used some of the energy that I had in anticipation of the upcoming football game to write a preview. At first it was just my thoughts on the game. Then it morphed into something that almost resembled the weekly packet that the team puts out every week. Then after failing miserably in picking a couple of games I started picking games. If you used my picks for betting purposes I am sorry. They really always were so that I had something down on paper to laugh at after the weekend was over. Continue reading

Ryan Kerrigan is now a Washington Redskin

Ryan Kerrigan pestering Denard Robinson

During his time at Purdue Ryan was very fun to watch. He left with a lot of records, but he really seemed to do it the right way as well. How he flew under the radar during the recruiting process is a great reason why I don’t follow recruiting. One of the best defensive ends ever at Purdue was not really highly thought of as a recruit. He was highly thought of when he left though as he was drafted 16th overall by the Washington Redskins tonight. It will be fun to watch him represent Purdue well in the NFL. Continue reading
